Above Is my idea of Newry's 2nd  Abbey 1140-2008.  There is no evidence to suggest otherwise, many Irishabbeys were restored in 1460 In accordance with Cistercian procedure in Ireland & here we have the Newry plans, which are borne out to the inch by the length and breath of the buildings that stand to day In Castle street.   In 1996 I wrote off to various Abbeys about Newryabbey, I was sent the outline plans, which I sent to Newry and Mourne, they were basically rubbished, had they not been rubbished, we would not have the supposed castle or argument we have today.   No Abbey In Ireland has suffered the loss of dignity and pride like Newryabbey has, simply because of the Abbey towns stragetic military position, but more so because because Newry was a Tara & or Cumman & or in English "Commons".   It was one of the highest held areas In Ireland at the time of the pope kings, hence Romes joining with the English, & attacking Ireland, Newry was the center point of all invasions.  The disgrace that has been bestowed on the Abbey recently by its own people where upon the unearthing of the mass grave, and the carting off of the bones from the same & the sending of them around the world is utter disgrace.  Below is Newry according to an English map maker,  supposedly in 1680 only 40 years before the last of the Bagenals died out In Newry.  Not a lot of difference to the one above is there ?  Further down the page is Bagenals forged & curious view of Newry, this too is quite different from the map above, so where did the massive Abbey of Newry go ? which is listed building for building in the English state papers. I dont think it went anywhere & was hidden on purpose by clever land grabbers like Bagenal, the maps below are simply sketches for thier makers individual needs, like mine above is, the difference is Im telling the truth..
Above Is an English map makers view of Newry, undated but supposed to be around about 1560-1680 ? click for larger view
Bagenals map of Newry below, also undated, but according to Newry & Mournes experts, lol, its somewhere between 1560-1680.  In my view this one below was drawn by a monk, Creilly,(eventually hanged by Bagenal)  the supposed castle with a blue roof below is identical to the abbots house,& not so curiously it stands just about where Decourceys Newry castle was at this time above Mill street .
Note above or ^ Click image. It is not Nicholas Bagenals name that is cribbled out & it should be, if it was as Newry claims " his"Castle ?,the name is that of his son H.Bagenal, who was at the believed date of building, just a lad of 8,give or take a lollypop or two
Enter Newryabbey where you will find Newry photos, vintage Newry, family links, the history of the town, boats on the Canal, Newry was a Tara, & the current argument over the fake Bagenal Castle, and much more.

It needs to be remembered here, the great church refered to above, was recently converted to a supposed Bagenal castle supposedly built brand new in or around 1560-1680. So where is this Bagenal Castle on the map here to your left ??.not there but It is recorded that the Newry Castle at top of map!! is ,read this. Or this, remember here also that this Decourcey castle & later Bagenal castle and infact all the buildings on the map to your left  represented all of Newry town which was infact Newryabbey itself, naturally!!  one and the same.  Long before this date Newry's first Abbey was founded by St Patrick, at the much higher spot the head of the strand at High Street monks hill & St Pats.
